Steep yourself in the history of Gulgong, dating back to the 1870s which still retains the quaint feel of the old gold rush days. The ride takes you through beautiful farming country to the untouched wilderness of the Munghorn. World renowned as a birdwatching spot, over 160 species of birds have been sighted here.
Cycle Tour of 4 days & 4 nights - approximately 145 km
Level of Difficulty – Moderate
Day 1 - 20 km
- Arrive in Mudgee & settle into your very comfortable accommodation
- We will bring you your bikes and explain the Tour
- If time permits, take a warm up ride along one of our recommended routes around Mudgee
- This evening, and for all evenings except Day 3, explore Mudgee's excellent restaurants and cafés
- Your detailed Tour Notes will outline various restaurant options
Day 2 - 30 km
- After a hearty breakfast you depart for Gulgong
- Leave your luggage to be picked up by us
- Follow our recommended route along one of Mudgee’s northern wine trails
- Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses en-route!
- Travel at your own pace and arrive in Gulgong at your leisure
- Visit the Cudgegong Gallery, Henry Lawson Centre and the Gulgong Pioneers Museum - optional.
- Enjoy the ambiance of this amazingly preserved gold mining town
- Another relaxing night awaits you at your chosen accommodation
Day 3 - 33 km
- Today’s route takes you along Mud Hut Creek Road, through the rural landscape of Cooyal to Kain’s Flat
- Most of the route is very quiet and scenic
- Again there is plenty of time to enjoy the journey
- There are also options of extra travel to
- The Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve (11 km) and
- The Castle Rock walking track (8 km) - not suitable for cycling
- Tonight you will enjoy a sumptuous home cooked dinner, a fire side chat and star gazing
- Sleep soundly in spacious accommodation within a tranquil, hill side setting
Day 4 - 31 km
- After a hearty breakfast, your last day is an easy jaunt back to Mudgee
- Make the most of the opportunity to soak up the last of this unique experience
- Drop into a winery or 2 on the north side of town
- Once back in Mudgee you can see more of the town attractions
- Return and relax in the same comfortable accommodation you enjoyed on your first night
