
This tour encompasses a stay in a quaint historic village, and a visit to the largest wilderness area in NSW. Explore the town of Rylstone with its sandstone buildings, wide streets, quaint shops and cafes, and discover the wilderness area of Dunn’s Swamp, or as the Aboriginals call it - “Ganguddy”. Here you can swim, canoe, fish or take a leisurely river cruise.

Day 1 - 20 km
Arrive in Mudgee & settle into your very comfortable accommodation
- We will bring you your bikes and explain the Tour
- If time permits, take a warm up ride along one of our recommended routes around Mudgee
- This evening (and for all days on the tour) explore Mudgee's excellent restaurants and cafés
- Your detailed Tour Notes will outline various restaurant options
Day 2 - 55 km
- After a hearty breakfast you depart for Rylstone
- Leave your luggage to be picked up by us
- Follow our recommended route through a picturesque valley
- Part of the route takes you directly through pastoral country properties
- Visit the Lue Pottery works on the way - optional
- Travel at your own pace and arrive in Rylstone at your leisure
- Enjoy the ambiance of this amazingly preserved old stone built town
- Enjoy the shops, cafés and craft outlets in the village
- Arrive at your accomodation where you will spend two relaxing nights
- Make your own arrangements for dinner at one of the great country pubs
Day 3 - 62 km
- Today’s route takes you out to the wonderful Wollemi National Park and back into Rylstone
- A beautiful water lake awaits you in the Park where you can swim, hire canoes on weekends and school holidays, or walk or watch for wildlife
- We suggest you pack a picnic lunch in your pannier
- Again there is plenty of time to enjoy the journey and rest at the Park
- Most of the cycling is an easy gradient along quiet sealed roads - but the last few km into the park is undulating on a gravel surface
- Pastoral land and eucalyptus trees abound
- Tonight you return to your comfortable accommodation in Rylstone
Day 4 - 56 km
- Cycle back to Mudgee via a different route with new experiences
- This is another long day so please remember to take water, snacks and lunch with you
- Head west out of town towards Windamere Dam. This is a good spot for a break
- Later you will turn right onto the Castlereagh Highway and re-enter wine country about 20 km south of Mudgee
- There are several fine wineries so make time to stop and taste their wares
- Once back in Mudgee you can see more of the town and its history
- Return and relax to the same comfortable accommodation you enjoyed on your first night
